I was suggesting having song ID be purely informational (like the custom field) and be disconnected from its purpose with linking songs between libraries. The synchronization ID field would take over what the song ID is currently being used for (by some users).

As far as identifying blank songs, there isn't an easy way to do that at the moment... I'll have to adjust the .mss behavior so that it provides the same type of file name as it does when adding a blank page in the song editor.
