Database Fields Best Practice
#4
Under "Tab Selection and Order" settings I have the fields:
  • Recent
  • Songs (Dutch: "Muziekstukken")
  • Collections (Dutch: "Verzamelingen")
  • Composers (Dutch: "Componisten")
  • Setlists (Dutch: "Afspeellijsten")
  • Artists (Dutch: "Artiesten")
  • Source types (Dutch: "Brontypen")
  • Genres (Dutch: "Genres")

As a piano accompanist I often play together with soloists (instrument or singer). So I use the fields to identify various things:
  • Collections (Dutch: "Verzamelingen") = the instrument of the soloists, e.g. Flute, Clarinet or Violin
  • Setlists (Dutch: "Afspeellijsten") = The event (e.g. a concert) where I/we are going to play
  • Artists (Dutch: "Artiesten") = The soloist(s) I am going to play with
  • Source types (Dutch: "Brontypen") = Where I got the music from, e.g. IMSLP, Email, Sheetmusic/Books
  • Genres (Dutch: "Genres") = Vocal, Classical, Musical

Of course, everybody is free to choose their own preferences
Frank.
