Gordon,

You have to set the MIDI Device Type to Genos, then you also have to go to Settings->MIDI Settings->Configure MIDI Connections and connect to both input and output ports for the device. MobileSheets will only display the link icon if you have an active MIDI connection and the device type is set to Genos. An adapter cable certainly can cause connection issues in some scenarios. Are you able to connect the input and output ports?
